My Story
The most a poor kid could do to have some excitement in their life. Megan did their best to hold it all in. Broken homes are nothing new and Megan was certainly no exception to this rising expectation in American homes. This broken home turned into living in their grandparent's house for a couple of years until they were able to procure enough money to rent a home just one house down. Expectantly, Megan at the ripe age of eleven had felt like they were already eighty. With multiple diagnoses of mental health issues as they aged and struggled with an underfunded public school, they turned to their notebook. The edges of homework, assignments, and notes, anywhere there was a clean slate Megan would scribble what they could, what made them happy or helped let out their emotions in a way people never could.
Growing slightly older, Megan realized this is one of the things that made them happy. And as they watched someone on Youtube doing a speed painting of a wolf, they thought to themselves: “I want to be as good as them one day”. And that is what really started their career in art. Watching hundreds, if not thousands of tutorials on Youtube and reading from Pokemon drawing books they slowly honed their craft. Also, there were Megan’s blue eyes that burned into any screen they could get their hands on to watch Youtube videos, mostly Pokémon card openings, video game lets plays, and Vine compilations. Megan still enjoys these hobbies and they continue to inspire their creativity and put into motion ideas of characters playing out scenes.
